GET FUNDING FOR YOUR SCHOOL EXCHANGE PROJECTS!

The Programme d'échanges et séjours à l’extérieur du Québec (PESEQ) funded by the Ministère de l’Éducation aims to support school exchange projects.

Eligibility criteria

You must ensure the your project is eligible before applying for a grant with the PESEQ

  • Groups should consist of at least 5 Quebec students*.
  • The project must be organized as a school project and can fall under the domain of languages, mathematics, science and technology, social studies, arts, personal development, and professional development. For more details on these different educational domains, please refer to the Ministry’s website.
  • Students will have dedicated a minimum of 20 hours to developing the skills targeted by this project.
  • During the stay, A minimum of three hours of activities per working day related to the nature of the project must be held or supervised by the person-s accompanying the group.
  • The minimum duration of the stay must be at least 7 days, including transportation to and from the destination.
  • At least 10% of the total value of the student mobility project must come from a source other than this program. This contribution must be detailed in the budget outline.
  • The project must be evaluated as safe.
  • Applications can be submitted starting from April 1 of the current year, and funding can be granted for projects ending before July 31 of the following year.
  • The application must be complete and signed, including the fully completed application form and supporting documents.

*Under this program, the definition of a Quebec student is the same as the one used in the Regulation respecting the definition of resident in Québec (RLRQ, c. E-9-1, r 2).

Amount of the grant

The maximum amount that can be awarded is the cost of transportation and accomodation, up to $2,000 per person. Participants will also receive a personal allowance of $100 per person.

The maximum number of supervisors eligible for funding is calculated according to the total number of students in the group:

  • 5 to 14 students: 1

  • 15 to 20 students: 2

  • 21 to 29 students: 3

  • 30 and + students: 4

The annual bugdet awarded for all submitted projects is $224,895 (within which an amount of $37,895 is to be allocated to projects within Canada).

Deadline to submit your project

Applications can be submitted starting from April 1 of the current year, and funding can be granted for projects ending before July 31 of the following year. The deadline to submit an application for the current financial year is February 15.

We will confirm the receipt and conformity of your application via email within a week of applying.

The acceptance or refusal of your application will be confirmed within 6 weeks after the application deadline.

Grant use report

School management must complete the grant use report (in French only) and submit it to Éducation internationale at the latest 30 days after the completion of the project. Any unused sum will have to be reimbursed (e.g. student withdrawal).

The report must also include the following documents :

  • Appendix I: Detailed schedule of the project (as it unfolded).

  • Appendix II: Final budget outline.

  • Proof of purchase for eligible expenses for each participant

  • Any other relevant document (stories, photos, etc.)

Safety

As a security measure, no funding will be granted for projects that take place in a country that is the subject of a level 3 travel advisory issued by the Government of Canada (avoid all non-essential travel).

This program is funded by the ministère de l’Éducation du Québec. Éducation internationale and the Échanges azimut department has been mandated by the Ministry to administer this program.
