International Youth Internship Program (IYIP)

Éducation internationale invites you to complete a mandate that will allow you to gain professional experience in international development in Jamaica through the International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC).

The IYIP experience takes place over a period of seven months: eight days of pre-departure training in Quebec City, six months of internship in the country of assignment and a debriefing upon return. The internships in Jamaica take place in high schools, you will work with students of all levels and in collaboration with the teachers of the department to which your mandate is attached.

In collaboration with the environment committee:

  • Organize sensibilisation activities about the protection of the environment;
  • Implement a system for the collection and recycling of plastic and paper.
  • Implement a project to develop the school’s green spaces.
  • Bring new and original ideas for improving environmental sustainability at school

J2 | Intern in environment – Garden and green spaces

Learn more

  • Ensure the planning and implementation of a school-managed garden
  • Provide advice on the different types of green technologies to be used for garden maintenance (irrigation, fertilizer, etc.) and support their implementation;
  • Support agricultural teachers in using the garden as part of their classes.
  • Work to improve the composting site;
  • Implement a project to develop the school’s green spaces.

  • to develop the argumentation in favor of the protection of adolescent girls’ rights;
  • Facilitate workshops to improve girls’ interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Facilitate workshops focused on girls’ empowerment;
  • Establish a peer support system;
  • Create and lead a mentoring program.
